Look for connections between content areas and tech standards.

Should these standards be mandated?

  • Doug Johnson says yes
    • he struggles for critical thinking & collaboration
  • These are standards for learners.
  • We must be the kitchen for the schools.
  • Joyce Valenza: Creative member of this school team that allows us to do the crazy project things that we need and want to do.

Extreme Make Over: School Library Edition may be the title of a new book

Classroom teacher plans don't reflect "Student Learning Plan"

Create collaborative lesson plans that are transparent (wikis, Google Docs)

Students each need individual learning plan because everyone is different.

Develop pathfinders and resources to meet student needs.

Have students write inquiry process blogs reflecting on what they learned along the way. (Annette Lamb)

Standards back up web 2.0

Wikis we have the history logs that allow us to see the process and pull out the standards. WE DON'T NEED TO USE THE SCHOOL SERVER.

Develop you own personal project (Annette)

  • Develop the questions
  • Find the resources
  • And your final product may be a garden, etc

Use WIKIS to see when students get frustrated with the research process so you can intervene. (use wiki space for a book club for themeselves)

We need to provide safe and orderly environments for students. Need a personal understanding of what's safe or not.

***see notes in word***** lost something

SC has moved forward on state-wide level

Be part of new teacher orientation

Partnership for 21st Century Standards should be matched with NETS & AASL

  • Collect artifacts of how the standards are being used within content area (photos)
  • What is the goal of the AASL standards?
    • Standards demonstrate what the association  want students to know, be able to do, and be like.
  • Resources to be used on a more local level
  • What's already happening and what needs to happen more or better?
  • Define collaboration
    • skills dispositions
    • permiate all processes
    • framework for collaboration
        • Joyce needs to see the end product
        • makes you a better designer and instructor
        • LMT make teachers' lives easier & student learning more powerful
        • teachers are now in personal learning networks in a NING
        • professonal learning community - state expectations in the beginning (Johnson & Johnson kids collaborting)
        • work all summer and rebuild the lessons they are already doing on WIKIS
        • help grow people's personal networks
        • synergy-more powerful than if you do it alone
